The View From Halfway Down

This work was inspired by a poem of the same title found in the show Bojack Horseman. The poem reads as follows;
The weak breeze whispers nothing Toes untouch the overpass A little wind, a summer sun You’re flying now, you see things Thrash to break from gravity
the water screams sublime. soon he’s water-bound. a river rich and regal. much more clear than from the ground. what now could slow the drop?
His feet shift, teeter-totter Eyes locked shut but peek to see A flood of fond endorphins It's all okay, or it would be All I’d give for toes to touch
deep breaths, stand back, it’s time. the view from halfway down. brings a calm that knows no equal. were you not now halfway down. the safety back at top.
~
But this is it, the deed is done I really should’ve thought about
silence drowns the sound. the view from halfway down.
Before I leaped I should've seen I wish I could've known about
the view from halfway down. the view from halfway down—
